About Us:
Sound Solution (Dorset) began its life as Noise Solution in 1998 and worked from the attic above the Clouds Day Programme, a drug and alcohol treatment centre in Boscombe. Noise Solution was run by volunteers who had a great passion for music - some being musicians themselves - but time and financial limitations meant that this project did not realise its full potential.
In 2004 the project changed its name to Sound Solution and the majority of volunteers who then offered their services are still part of the team today.
In 2006 Sound Solution (Dorset) became a registered charity and in 2007 the project moved into the Bourne Spring Centre.
The volunteers at Sound Solution work with the following commitment and values:
-
ensure that workshops are positive, educational, stimulating and exciting
-
ensure that our workshops are open to all people in the community regardless of gender, faith, culture, sexual orientation, social or physical status
-
ensure that all project workers are appropriately trained for their role within Sound Solution
-
to provide and maintain a safe, secure and friendly environment for the service users of the project

Many of our service users come from socially disadvantaged and excluded sections of society. Our music workshops offer people a chance to explore their creativity within music, to meet and interact with like-minded people, and also spend some quality fun time in a safe and friendly environment.
We still retain links with local alcohol/drug treatment centres where a number of our learners come from each week to look for ways in which they can integrate into the local community, and more importantly have FUN!
Sound Solution (Dorset) also networks with other projects such as;-
'Jail Guitar Doors' - which is an independent initiative that aims to provide instruments to those who are using music as a means of achieving the rehabilitation of prison inmates. Many of these ex-offenders re-locate to our area via various local services and are referred to Sound Solution to continue their music tuition.
